Last week , The Social Media Blog posted an article that we reprinted with the permission of The Obvious Expert. The article was originally written by career transition consultant, Randy Block to coach readers on the art of the job interview and then reframed as:  10 Ways to Blow Social Media Marketing…Okay, Only 9, Special Reprint.

Reader Annie Infinite of the Zen Bull Blog, The Bulls Roar, offered this comment and the addition of the missing item from the list. We think her suggestion is spot-on and we decided to promote it from the comments section to a blog post to make sure no one missed it.

First, follow the link above and read the original post if you haven’t already and then add Annie’s  contribution to the list, which will give us the full “10 Ways to Blow Social Media Marketing…”

Annie says:

“I totally agree with this article it does apply to social marketing and I have one for number 9 for you :)

9. Be so busy gathering your research that you forget that the conversation is the most important thing.

I believe that creating honest, open conversation without leaving them drowning the your personal trivia is the most important part of using social media. Be you, be helpful, add value and never advertise.

Annie”

Thank you Annie for your valuable insights; thank you Randy Block for the original article, and thank you Obvious Expert for the reprint. Social Media is a bit like stone soup. When we all chip in our contributions, we can come up with a pretty tasty dish.

How wonderful it is to know you valued my comment, I am very passionate about what I do and passionate about doing it well. Lucky me, I love to connect with people, it has and continues to bring me joy on so many levels. This has become a mantra for me during my workshops and in my written work, social media is social above all else. This is what is important creating that connection and building on it through great honest conversation.

and thank you <3 Annie Infinite

Thanks so much for this.
I wonder what would happen if everyone applied Annie’s suggestions, especially ‘no advertising’.
Sure would be a different world.
